Domaine de Pellehaut Gascogne Chardonnay 2009 10.99/750 ml.

Delicate sophisticated nose, pure, light ripe tree fruit, predominately apple, and on the tongue, nice body, pure, tart, minerally, slightly salty, with round but restrained pear and lime flavors. The finish is very nice, a bit of a chalky sensation and nicely refreshing at the same time." The Béraut family has some of the largest vineyard holdings in the Côtes de Gascogne region of Southwestern France. Overlooking the quaint village of Montréal-du-Gers, the vines are planted on several different types of soil, including mixtures of clay and limestone along with sand interspersed with small limestone pieces.
Frei Brothers Russian River Valley Chardonnay 2009 13.99/750 ml.
Winery notes: "The signature cooling maritime influences of the Russian River Valley serve to balance its warm days with cool, refreshing evenings and fog-cloaked mornings. This unique microclimate allows for the slow and even maturation of our fruit, developing distinct flavors in our wines which reflect this great Sonoma terroir. Flavors of green apple, orange zest, and apple pie, which are complemented by buttery and toasty notes. Nutty and rich, the wine finishes with a silky, full mouthfeel."
